Raiders Suffer Tough Loss to Chiefs

After leading by as much as 14 points, the Las Vegas Raiders blew their big lead and fell 31-17 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The loss moves the Raiders to 5-7 on the year, and in the highly competitive AFC, makes their path toward making the playoffs that much more difficult.

In the game, the Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead early into the second quarter, following a touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell and a 63 yard touchdown run from Josh Jacobs. But after that is when the Chiefs remembered how potent their Patrick Mahomes led offense could be. And heading into halftime, the Chiefs had tied it up at 14 all.

The second half was night and day for the Raiders offense. After racking up 245 all purpose yards in the first half, in the second half, the Raiders were held to just three points and 113 yards. While the Chiefs continued their offensive onslaught. Even in the loss, individual parts of the team played well, with O’Connell throwing for 248 yards and a touchdown, and Jacobs rushing for 110 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders will have some extra time to think about the loss, as they have a bye next week, before playing the 6-6 Minnesota Vikings at Allegiant Stadium.
