The Nevada Child Care Fund is now available to families earning $60,000 to $70,000 per year, considering it’s a family of four, which would double the prior income threshold. Previously this limited resource  was limited for families earning up to 130 percent of the poverty line ($36,075 per year).

Policymakers are expanding a child care subsidy program by allocating $50 million in federal funds to help families who receive daycare assistance. Instead of waiting for federal legislation, policies like this will accelerate the Silver State towards a robust universal pre-K program, as introduced by the Biden administration and supported by Governor Sisolak.

Nevada’s American Rescue Plan will contribute $160 million to the funding set aside for strengthening and expanding child care.

Residents are encouraged to apply for eligibility as soon as possible, even if they have previously been denied. 

The Children’s Cabinet accepts applications from Northern Nevada and rural residents, while the Las Vegas Urban League accepts applications from Southern Nevada residents.
