Tribes in Nevada eligible for millions in Interior water infrastructure funding

In the last decade, Native American communities throughout Nevada have seen a significant increase in Safe Drinking Water Act violations due to failing infrastructure and paltry federal funding for tribes. Now the federal agencies responsible for protecting tribal health and water safety are investing more than $1 billion in funding to accelerate the development of drinking water and community sanitation infrastructure projects in Indian Country.

FTC warns scams lead to highest per-capita losses in NV

Financial Literacy Month might be coming to an end soon, but the Federal Trade Commission wants to help Nevadans year-around spot, avoid and report scams to keep their money safe. The state’s residents lost almost $80 million to financial scams in 2023, according to LendingTree, a loan-finding marketplace. The Silver State also saw the highest per-capita losses due to scams at just above $25.

NV stakeholders celebrate new BLM public lands rule

Abortion rights petition okayed by Nevada Supreme Court 

An initiative petition circulated by Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom, an organization working to enshrine abortion rights in the Nevada Constitution, can proceed, thanks to the Nevada Supreme Court’s affirmation Thursday of the petition’s language, which focuses on reproductive rights, including contraception, vasectomies, tubal ligation, and infertility treatment.

Silver appointed to Gaming Commission 

Gov. Joe Lombardo announced Thursday he’s appointing retired Nevada Supreme Court Justice Abbi Silver to the Nevada Gaming Commission. Silver will replace Commissioner Ogonna Brown, whose term ends next week.
